Aideen – Wrong Job - PCM
Aideen had been working as a Legal Secretary for a large Practice for almost 10 years – her first job – which she went straight into after completing a secretarial course. Aideens’ family and friends always comment on how lucky she is to have such a good and steady job – for this she was grateful, she really liked the people she worked with – but she had become de-motivated in recent times. Deep down she knew she wanted something different for her career, but just didn’t how to go about making the necessary change. She heard about Online Career Manager from an ex-colleague and decided to try it out to see it could help her with this dilemma. Through Psychometric Testing she was able to validate the things she already knew about herself but she also learned more, giving her further insight into her as a person and her career requirements. Most importantly she realised that she would never be fulfilled in her current type of role.
Aideen reinforced her love of working with figures and that she gets a kick out of problem solving. Indeed one of her favourite past-times is Soduku! With the help OCM she embarked on a change of career direction. She undertook and successfully completed an Accounting Technician Course (IATI). She was able to do this by night over two years and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so much so, she came first in her class!
Upon realising that she wasn’t fulfilled in her role as a Legal Secretary, her employer decided rather than losing Aideen, a valued employee, they offered her a position as an Accounts Assistant in their Accounts Department. Aideen has just completed 6 months in her new role and is loving her new-found career fulfilment.
